WA Notify: The Official COVID-19 Exposure-Notifications App for Washington State

WA Notify is a free COVID-19 exposure-notifications app developed by the Washington Department of Health for Android devices. It is based on the Exposure Notifications Express platform developed by Apple and Google and configured by DOH. The app exchanges random codes with other devices that have WA Notify enabled when they are in close proximity. If someone tests positive for COVID-19 and reports it through the app, other users who received their random codes will receive an alert that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

WA Notify runs in the background without draining the device battery, and the Apple and Google framework does not link any personal data or location information with the random codes exchanged by devices. Public health organizations verify positive tests and provide app users with a verification code to prevent false reporting.

By voluntarily using WA Notify, you can help anonymously alert fellow users in Washington state who may have been near someone with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. The app estimates how close the devices were and for how long, and users within six feet for 15 minutes or more of the COVID-positive person are notified that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.
